| XBox 360 video playback from USB drive playing up
Hi, sorry if this has been posted before, in my flat at uni my 360 was connected to the internet all the time, and I regularly played back videos from my external HD through USB, mostly avi files.
Now I'm home and my Xbox isn't connected to the net (for the time being), but I would still like to watch my videos, but every time I play the file I get the error code 51-coodf236 and am told to download an update to play the file by connecting to live and trying to play the video again.
I took my xbox hard drive and my usb hard drive and connected them up to my brother's 360 which is connected to live, and it played with no problem at all. I then tried hooking up my own xbox where his is, and again, the video played fine with no prompt to download anything.
I took my xbox back up to my room to try again and got the same error message as before.
Why do you have to be signed into live to play videos? Its stupid, it will show pictures and play music files from the same USB drive perfectly fine, why the problem with video?
Does anyone know any work-arounds as I am going crazy without my video collection!
