Cables and CD

I'm wanting to buy a HD-DVD player as i've got a collection of HD-DVD's just lying around not being used since I sold my Toshiba EP30.

I have seen some really cheap ones on eBay for as little as £20 inc P&P.

Unfortunately they do not come with anything other than the HD-DVD drive itself. So no disc, no cables and no remote.

The remote isn't an issue as I already have one.
Where can I get cables from cheaply, and can the disc just be downloaded and burnt on to CD and installed or even better downloaded through XBL?

If it's too much trouble to do all the above i'll just buy one complete with everything, just after saving a few pennies where possible!!

Thanks, Chris.

If it's just a standard USB cable, that would be a god send

Thanks for the offer on the install CD. Have just read on MS web site that it is an XBL update and if connected you should be prompted to update. Failing that there is a link to download and burn the CD.

Final question, does it come with it's own power brick or is it USB powered as it also wouldn't come with this...

Yes, I think it's a standard USB cable. It may be a USB -> USB mini though I can't remember, but still something you can pick up easily enough.

No - it has a 9v/12v (can't remember exactly) PSU and adaptor - although the connector is one of those standard ones so you could much more easily get some replacement 3rd party universal thing (unlike the xbox psu lead itself). I could read my PSU tonight and tell you exactly the V and amperage if you like.

It is a USB to mini-USB connector to hook up to the 360.

Finally, you don't need the "driver" cd. I was so lazy that pre-NXE I just plugged it in and it downloads the update automatically from Live.

You don't need a remote - the pad works just as well and does not need line of sight

Re: Cables and CD

I bought a hd drive with 8 films for £41.

So rather than buying one without leads for £20, you could buy one with films and all cables for say £35 to £40, and sell any duplicate films that you receive to hopefully reduce priceback down to the £20 mark

Unfortunately remote was missing from my bundle, and I am thinking of buying a 3rd party one for £6 or £7 from ebay.Would the y be just as good as original
