Red ring advice

YARRODT
My xbox has just red ringed a few minutes ago.

When i bought it from purple i took out a 3 years warranty which covers virtually everything for £30 odd quid.

The insurance document says it covers the most economical and easiest option, so surely that covers replacing the console there and then? Thats what the sales assistant told me at the time of purchase.

Now what i want to know is will purple replace my console there and then with a brand new one?(mine is a 20gb pro, one with hdmi and one of the new batches at the time).

And what about my Hard drive? will i get to keep it and if so how will i tranfer all my data onto the new drive(60gb hopefully XD) Could someone possibly lend me one of those cables?

And will they hand over a brand new 60gb pro just like that after showing them the insurance documents?

Re: Red ring advice

I don't know the company, but I'd have thought "the most economical and easiest option" for them would be to send it back to Microsoft.

Cheers,

Teddy

Re: Red ring advice

You may get lucky and them swap it for a console of similar or closest value to your purchase price, no good asking us tbh, ring them up and find out hehe

Re: Red ring advice

As MS will repair it for free the most economical thing for the insurance company is to get MS to repair it for £0.

They will tell you to send it to MS.

Re: Red ring advice

Went in yesterday and have to send it off to ms. Bit annoyed about this becuase i wasted 40 quid on the insurance. Ah well hopefully i will get a repaired console back. But ive heard a few stories of consoles coming back not working.

Should mine come back with a hdmi port if i sent on off with one on?

Re: Red ring advice

Bit of a bummer about the insurance, not really worth taking it out in the end as your cutting them out by going to MS rather than them doing all the leg work.
Id be inclined to complain about that kinda service.
