Question on my "replacement" console

My console has just been delivered from UPS. The letter inside says that they have exchanged my console. The date on the back of this new console is 21/12/08.

So is this a refurbished unit with a new label on it with the date of refurbishment?

Or Is this a brand new unit and perhaps one of these Jasper units everyone is talking about? (A long shot I know)

Bye the way it was console only, no new power pack or anything, will a jasper run off the old power pack?

AFAIK MS send a new power brick with Jaspers, although they don't need to.

I'm actually betting it is a refurbished console that died really quickly after being purchased, probably bricked by the NXE update. MS don't change the labels. If it is a Jasper it will say 12.1A somewhere near the S/N/

Re: Question on my "replacement" console

Mike,

At the moment it would only be a Jasper if it's an Arcade model. If it's an Arcade and the label says 12V 12.1A then it's a Jasper.

Regards,

Simon

Re: Question on my "replacement" console

Thanks for the replies guys,

Looks like your right. Unfortunately its says 16.5A. So I've got a recently knackered but refurbished unit.

Ahh well, never mind, we'll see how long number 6 lasts then.

On a side note.
The previous console was repaired just a coupe of months ago for a new DVD drive, for which I had to pay and was given a one year warranty with it. What kind of warranty will I now have?? Another one full year for non RROD failures and 3 years for RROD?? On the Xbox web site, the details have not been updated and the serial number is for my old console which states the warranty expires 23/12/09.

The only way to find out is online in the device manager. MS seem to give random warranties.

Re: Question on my "replacement" console

Do I need to register this new console?

The details online are for the old one.

Re: Question on my "replacement" console

If it has a different S/N then MS should have done it, but do it to be safe.
