optical audio buzzing

Hi,

Just connected my Xbox360 to new lcd tv with hdmi, TV pic is great, what i want to do is to be able to send the audio to my edirol ma-15d speakers, that have an optical in. I removed the shell off the standard Xbox lead to enable the two plugs to be put in at the same time, using toslink cable to my edirols..

The audio is fine when browsing through the xbox dashboard. But becomes buzzy when playing any dvd or music video through hd-dvd drive, or if i put a film in the normal xbox drive..

I have switched the audio settings off dolby digital on xbox360, as my speakers are only stereo...

It is as if when a movie is playing it is trying to switch to dolby digital. it is the same sound as if dolby digital is enabled.

Please Help...

Alun
