Question 2 Questions for a replacement Xbox 360

Hi guys, first time posting for ages, more a looker than a poster.

Anyway I've just sold my original Xbox 360 from Dec 05 in order to replace it with a newer version.

Question 1
Does anyone know where it is garanteed to get a full on new Jasper Xbox 360.

Question 2
What is the deal with my current Hard Drive and on whats on it. I have quite a few 'Map Packs' on it. Do I really need to get hold of the Microsoft hard drive migration kit, or can i just rely on re downloading them after using the online transfer licences option on xbox.com?

Really sorry of this has been asked several times before .

Thanks in advance.
Ragards,
Swiss.

Q1: ? sorry not sure about this one

Q2: if you transfer your gamertag across to the new HDD you will be able to re-download all the map packs you have bought, I have just done it myself.

Re: 2 Questions for a replacement Xbox 360

it is unknown if the jaspers have been fully phased in and all old stock sold but generally they are jaspers being sold now

if you buy a 360 there are many ways to see if you have a jasper - most commonly the power ratings it has (150W PSU not 175 or 201) and the current it states on the back of the xbox

also the manufacture date will be fairly recent

regarding the data transfer kit - assuming you have a 20GB HDD if you buy a premium/pro console you will get a 60GB HDD or an elite a 120GB HDD

you can get a data transfer kit (via M$ or the bike on AVF) and it will copy all your existing data inc saves, DLC and profiles over to the the new HDD

you must remember though the HDD being transferred from is formatted and it will only work if the HDD being transferred from is smaller than the HDD being transferred to.

hope this helps

Thumbs up Re: 2 Questions for a replacement Xbox 360

Thanks guys for the replies, looks like I'll just have to take in a note of all pointers of being a 'Jasper' and check them, spoke to Blockbuster locally an hour ago and they said they got some new stock coming in and don't mind if I want to check them to see if they are the new 'Jaspers'.

You'd think this day and age there'd be some pro 'Jasper' shops actively advertising they have these in stock, because guess who sell more!?! Or maybe I'm just a bit too anal!

Thanks for the info on the Data Transfer, as I've sold the Xbox and need to post/courier it tomorrow morning I'll go the re download route as I think all I need is Halo 3 Maps, any COD 5 updates and GOW2 maps hopefuly wont take to long a 4Meg line.

Regards,
Swiss.

Re: 2 Questions for a replacement Xbox 360

Most of the Jaspers in the UK are crrently Arcade SKU's and a few 60GB premium.

Just ask when you buy it to check the box as you want the latest revision, they cannot refuse that.

The best guide can be found here : Xbox 360 DVD Drive Database

Re: 2 Questions for a replacement Xbox 360

generally it should be fine now you will most likely get one

the above site is good for recognising where to get them from and who to know when you get it (eg manufacture date)

Comet seem to differentiate between the new & old but it probably doesn't 'guarantee' you a Jasper. See here

Re: 2 Questions for a replacement Xbox 360

Hey guys, thanks for all your help.

Managed to find a Jasper Arcade from Gamestation in Reading, very helpful chap called Craig let me look in the little windows of the boxes that had just come in on the delivery. Even tried to look in a Lara Croft 60GB Box, but the packaging was so tight it was impossible to move the box inside enough to be able to get a look at the lable inside. Although the outside advertising, which all now shoe the other model Xbox's availble in the range had the Arcade on it saying it had the memory built in and not a memory card. Unfortunatly it didnt confirm this for the Lara 60GB version is was advertised on, just said 60GB.

Anyway now I need to find a reasonably priced hard drive, COMET have sold out nationwide of the 120GB at £59. Appartantly they have discotinued it hence the price, so if you are lucky to come accross one in a store they propbably didnt have it on there stock list.

Once again thanks for your help. If you live in Reading Area and are lloking to buy a Jasper then pop down to Gamestation and ask for Craig....and no I don't work for them, although I do sell cars!

Regards,
Charlie.
