Well it lasted what, 4 days

My old xbox lasted nearly 3 years, this one has lasted 4 days....and I've not even played a game, just watched 2 films.

Just turned it on and it loads up for about 4 seconds then says Error E65.

The power light is flashing like the drive wants to open and there is 1 red flashing light bottom right.

Any ideas?

Apparantly it's a dvd drive error.

Am I going to have to send it back *again*, anyway to get my film out?
The tray won't open.

Re: Well it lasted what, 4 days

Bought it in gamestation in 2005 mate, well out of warranty.

I only have a 3 month warranty as that's what they give you after replacing RROD.

You mean the repaired Xbox lasted 4 days? Doesn't sound to me like they've repaired it, but all you can do is send it back again.

Have you tried to do anything to it since you got it back?

You mean 3 YEARS for RROD. I assume that's what you have just had repaired and got back 4 days ago?

Did you have to pay for the recent repair?

If you did then it's common now for a new full 1 year warranty to be given by MS.

Re: Well it lasted what, 4 days

I'm not sure if the 360 does, but often there is a hole near the DVD drive to manually eject the tray.

Take off the faceplate (360 not DVD drive), look for a small hole near the DVD tray and stick an un-bent paperclip into it. It should spring the tray and you can then pull it out and release your trapped DVD.

Not good that it broke so soon after 'repair', I've just sent mine back today after the GPU went tits up, my second 360 to fail on me .

Re: Well it lasted what, 4 days

They picked the console up today and boxed it all for me so I didn't have to do anything, not only that, 2h later on their site it says:

Device shipped to customer - Your console has been repaired or replaced. We are shipping it back to you.

So they've sent one straight out to me before even receiving the old one back

Where in my case I had to provide my own box, waited in 2 days for UPS because they didn't turn up the first day, and although MS got the box about 24hours ago still claim they haven't got it.

But I'm glad you got it sorted so quickly.

Re: Well it lasted what, 4 days

The first time I sent it back I had to package it etc myself mate, they only done it all for me because when she said I'll need to create a return, I said:

"How comes my old console lasted near 3 years, and this one less then 4 days"

She then apologised and went to ask a supervisor what to do, came back and said they'll do everything.

Re: Well it lasted what, 4 days

E64 is normally bad/corrupted/missing firmware, it can occur when your doing naughty things but can also happen if the sata cable is ever so slightly loose or has a wire not making contact so the DVD times out with a E64.

Not touched it, didn't even play a game on it.

Infact I haven't even used the drive, watched the matrix using the HD DVD add on.

Re: Well it lasted what, 4 days

Manual Eject for Xbox 360 DVD drives

for those that ever need it

the above link helps you find out what DVD drive you have and where the manual release is for that DVD drive

as matt correctly said they do normally have a manual release - the first xboxes was really easy to get to

That reminds me. The day that UPS returned my refurbished 360, M$ sent me an email stating that they "hadn't received my xbox" and "would I still like to send my console in for repairs".

Re: Well it lasted what, 4 days

I gave up and left the film in it, she said they'd send it back to me, not too hopeful to be honest, as long as I get my console and some warranty back I'll be happy
