Best video setting for 360?

Unfortunately as I own an early X-Box 360 I am connected by a VGA cable and therefore cannot set the video setting to 1080p as when I have tried this the screen goes blank and a message in the information bar states "out of range"

Can anyone tell me what is the best setting for the X-Box 360? I have read several threads and havent really been able to come up with a definitive answer.

Most are saying 720p, but as this is not an option in my 360 settings menu I presume I should be looking for a resolution like * x 720??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Best video setting for 360?

what are you connecting it to?

my monitor has a 1920x1200 res and that worked fine.

find out the native resolution of the screen you are using and try that.
