HD-DVD drive problems

Evenin all,

I seem to have a problem with two HD-Dvd drives that I purchased from TXMaxx last week. I power the unit on and insert a disk. The drive opens fine, disk in then closes fine. After about a second or two, the drive opens by about a Centimetre. This problem happens on both drives. Even with no disk in, I open and close and it does the same.

The green light stays on when the drive is open, then starts blinking as it closes. Once closed and re-opened by two centimetres it continues to flash.

I've managed to install the drive fine on both my laptop and my XBox 360, but obviously it doesn't play any disks.

I can push it shut but it wont read any disks. What's the chances of BOTH being faulty?

Re: HD-DVD drive problems

Just to add, When the drives are connected to the Xbox (one at a time), the Hd-DVD option on the dashboard says opening all the time. So basically, you open the drive, insert disk, close drive, the drive opens itself by a few centimetres and the dash says 'opening'.

This happens on two drives

Thanks Nick,

Unfortunately they do this with both the Xbox and connected to a PC. Infact, they do it when not connected to anything

Re: HD-DVD drive problems

Weird then eh? Must just be some bizarre coincidence. Maybe TXMaxx bought a bad shipment, unknowingly.

All i can think of to be honest.

Re: HD-DVD drive problems

My HD-DVD drive does it sometimes too (gets stuck), it must just be a design fault
