Thanks: Gave 5, Got 0 | Xbox 360 Repair - Time taken?
Hey, my Xbox 360 keeps freezing and shutting down, with just 2 red lights on the front (it works alright after until it overheats again).
So was thinking of frying it with a towel, getting three red lights, getting the 3 year warranty, and sending it off for repair/replacement.
Anyone had experiance in this?
Anyone sent one off for other reasons as i was wondering how long it takes?
Thanks,
Tayla13

He sent his off last week so will interesting to see the turnaround now that its after xmas. Good for you for turning the screws on them. Everyone should absolutely hammer MS anytime they get a fault. They know they have played a sly move by turning a blind eye to the faults in the first place.

hmmm v. well done
well that sounds like a good turnaround, ive heard like a month!
I really didnt think that arguing with a drone on the end of the phone would work, but hey good going, mine quite a bit over the 1 year warranty. Might not be so lucky...
Anyone had experience with actually red ringing an xbox? lols

A lot of people have been succesful of booking it in online and putting intermittent red ring and getting away with it, for only 1 red light errors.

Tayla, where is your 360 positioned? In an av unit?
2 red lights is overheating. Also check if your fans are still working?

tbh im very vigilant about this kind of thing. It on an open glass stand, i vacuum it and the power supply regularly, and the fans are still going, much to the abuse of my ears
and how do you do it online, sounds like a winner?
BTW your xbox is sick :D

thankyou, very helpful, i might end up doing that, u reckon i would need to get it to 3 red light before they would repair it?
If they test it and it turns on fine then they'll probs just send it back?

In theory yes. How long when you play it before it goes to two red lights?

Also, can you hear anything moving inside? Wondering if a heatsink has somehow come loose. Other than that i think it can only be a problem with the thermal sensor.
It can be disconnected, but would mean opening your console.

see here: RROD Repair Turnaround Time?

I'm new to the Xbox repair process and am finding it slightly confusing. The initial e-mail seems to indicate that three things might happen.
I guess my main question to people who have been through this is do I need to go out and buy packing for my Xbox 360, or will Microsoft send me what is required?
Any help would be appreciated. I've had to go back to the original console in the meantime!
