What Xbox 360 Mobo and DVD Drive?

I just got back my non HDMI xbox from MS after the RRoD. How can I tell without opening it up, what DVD drive and what Motherboard I have received? MS just sent me a new console, instead of fixing my old one. I googled, but it seemed I had to open it up to find out which one I got.

Edit: I didnt get a box from MS to check the lot number and team.

This site does a visual comparison of DVD drives - just check which picture is the same as yours. Not sure about the MB I'm afraid.

Re: What Xbox 360 Mobo and DVD Drive?

sorry to hijack a bit, but that makes very interesting reading. I never noticed before but I'm 99.9999999% sure that my DVD drive tray is different from the one it had before I sent it off for repair, even though they only said they replaced the motherboard.... Strange. But I do have a question, according to that site you mentioned, the HD-DVD drive is designed to fit in the same footprint as the normal 360 drive. Does that mean it would be possible to actually mod your 360 to fit one of these drives in and if so would it still work the same AND play HD-DVD's? could be a solution if anyone had any space issues? just a thought.

i don't think so because if it was possible somebody would have figured it out by now and there would be guides in all the usual places and also if you open your 360 the drive and connections are SATA.
