Question about noise level....

Howdy, I'm having a hard time deciding whether to shell out £100+ for either a stand alone HD-DVD player or a Blueray player, now I own an xbox360 and know there is an add on, but what I want to know is does it make alot of noise? If it's relatively quiet I'd consider this as it's far the cheaper option but as said if it's as noisey as the 360 when playing the disks I don't think I could live with that!!

Re: Question about noise level....

The 360 HD add on is silent. At least it appears to be stood next to the aeroplane that its plugged into.

Cheers

Hi
The HD-DVD add-on is quiet, the noise, if any, is comparable to a modern stand alone DVD player. I have had it connected to my PC and have not heard anything from it that could be considered noisy. Admitittly when connected to the 360 it wold be hard to tell because of the racket from the 360.

Re: Question about noise level....

Ah thats good news thanks for your input As I see it BR disks are way to expensive at the moment compared to HD-DVD and I cannot justify that extra cost when for as little as £2.99-3.99 I can pick up brand new copy's of HD-DVD movies!!

Re: Question about noise level....

Remember that HD DVD's have been stopped and once the stock as gone, its gone. Hence the low prices.

Yeah I don't mind that because I'll pick up plenty of very cheap movies for my viewing pleasure I can't justify £20 for 1 BR disk I can get 4-5 HD-DVD's for that, ok some are maybe a tad more but still great value for HD movies.

Re: Question about noise level....

What'll be your plan for viewing new movies in HD though? Presumably you'll need a Blu-Ray player regardless at some point?

To be honest at the moment there are more than enough HD-DVD movies to keep me happy for a very long time, Until BR disks start to drop in price, I'll happily carry on buying the HD-DVD format as it's just stupidly cheap
Also from my understanding there is no difference in quality picture wise between the two formats.

This is my view as well.

I bought my HD-DVD drive a year ago but have only recently bothered to start a collection.

I know Blu-Ray is the future and the latest movies will only come out on Blu-Ray but there's something like 200 HD-DVDs available for as little as £5 and that's plenty enough for someone like me, who hardly ever watches DVDs.

I'm hoping to make a tidy sum on my HD-DVD add-on and discs in the future.
