Cannot Get Sound from Videos Through Optical Out with HDMI Video

I have searched and searched for an answer, and I am stuck.

My Xbox can stream videos without a problem through TVersity, however I have a problem whereby there is no sound coming out of my Surround Sound when I do this. Yet if I play a game or DVD it works fine.

However if I use a VGA connection and the Red and White Phono cables I can pick up audio from streamed videos, as well as from a USB stick and a Media CD. So it isn't a Codec problem as I originally thought. And it isn't the Optical cable as that works for games and DVD's.

I am really stuck with what it could be. I am using a HDMI-DVI cable and the Optical port of the VGA cable for sound normally, but it can't be the XBox getting confused as I still get sound from other sources (Games and DVD's).

I am well and truly stumped as to what it could be. Any ideas at all??
