nooo i have the rrod

gutted i put on the xbox yesterday and was greeted with the red rings was just about to buy cod5 too .

I have had it for 20 months now i guess so was expecting . Guess il have to send it away now hope i can get it repaired ok though through microsoft?

Do i need to go on the website and go from there?

Yeah go through the website, or phone them and arrange pick up.

Always seems to happen just when your looking forward to a new game!

that's bad news mate

But you are right...go to the xbox.com site, log in and make sure you've registered your console serial number. then go to the support page and request a repair.

Once accepted, they will send you an email with the DHL return labels.
You then package the xbox console only (no hardrive or any accessories) in a well padded box.
Add the labels to the box.
Call DHL and arrange a collection time.
You can track the progress online via the support link. The unit will probably go to a service centre in Germany.

I've heard if that happens within a year of purchace, you can just take it back to the retailer with recipt and they'll give you a new one (after some pursuation). Otherewise you can go through the website to arrange a pick up or give them a call

cheers guys . Think il go to the site and follow the instructions as you said . My mate got his back to him within 2 weeks i think it took like 10 days tops. So hopefully il be lucky like him .

When i go to register my console i put in United Kingdom and it says The chosen Country is not currently supported. what the hell?

its easier to send it to them with RROD as if they recieve and its ok you may be getting it back i waited until mine permantly RROD' to send it if i was you leave it on for a while and try and Red ring it

My Premium had 3 Red Rings and I did the towel trick the other night and its working for now, although it has frozen on me twice. I just wish I'd sent it off though as now I'll have to wait for it to Red Ring again

I've just got it too, this is getting ridiculous. NEITHER of my 360s have lasted a year and have no problems with ventilation around them. I also run them for a few minutes after gaming to let them cool down. This is rather curiously happening to MANY people after the NXE dash update which I believe also updated firmware...

ive got the rrod aswell bought another xbox 360 earlier from my mate hopefully send the other one back too microsoft too get fixed up

As posted on another thread, mine gave up the ghost earlier this evening after nearly 3 years of faithful service. Was gutted but at least it should be just covered by the 3 year warranty!
To be honest, I think mine died of old age!
