Just thought I'd you guys know that I fixed my 360 that had the 1 red light and E74 error on screen message by installing the X Clamp replacement kit which I picked up for £3.50 off eBay from mcdirect99 and using Arctic Silver 5 and then blasted the underside of the board where the GPU chips are located with a hairdryer for about 10 mins on full heat and it's worked.

Got it all working with the new dashboard

Well done mate. You did well.

When it goes again, remove the rear grills with tin snips, take off the top of the metal cage, apply the credit card pieces to the chips, and do the fan shroud mod.

All add to keeping it running cooler.

And I just fixed my mate's 360 which was displaying no video but sound worked with the X Clamp fix without reflowing it, just installed it put it back together and it worked... oooh ye and I replaced the thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5

The problem with just removing the x-clamps and not reflowing the solder is that it will go again shortly.

You should always reflow, top and bottom.
