Today I switched on the XBOX 360 and I got 1 Red ring. I got my Elite about 6 months ago from Argos. Should I go back to Argos tommrow and get a new one and take my HDD of and put it on the new one. Or phone Microsoft?

Does this work? Is there any way to finx it, or should I just take it back to Argos?

How long is the warranty for the XBOX 360, 1 year or 3 years? And if I take the HDD off will all the accounts be on it, will anything be left on the XOBX 360?

I got the same error about a week ago. Unplugging and replugging everything did nothing although I've heard it's worked for others. Mine was something to do with the part of the console that deals with AV (with no AV cables attached I got no red light).

Warranty is 3 years for 3 red lights and 1 year for everything else.

If I were you I'd take it back to Argos, don't know what they're like but any decent retailer will just give you a new one if a console has gone kaput after 6 months.

An E74 is nothing you can fix without taking it apart and have some knowledge of the console.

It can be fixed though.

Yep, 3 red is 3 years. Any other failure is only 1 year.

Yes.

Lots of people seem to have been successful returning +1 year old consoles with errors other than 3rrod but reporting them as 3rrod faults.

And of course there are ways of inducing 3 red lights.
