I just plugged my iPod into my 360, and the 360 seems to play the music files from the iPod using its own DAC. To my amazement, the sound quality is unbelievable! I use an iPod dock to play songs from the iPod using its 3.5mm output connected to the amp and it sounds ok. When I connected it to the 360 via USB, it sounds incredible. The 360 is connected to my amp via the standard stereo RCA cables.

This makes me think, have Microsoft actually paid a good amount of money for a high end DAC in the 360?

I used to listen to my ipod nano through my 360 Great sound quallity But my Ipod touch wont work in the 360

Did you notice any difference in sound quality when you listen to it through your 360 in comparison to hooking up the 3.5MM to the amp via RCA and listening to it that way?

Big difference I actually prefer listing to music through my 360 than anything else.

Me too these days. Most of my MP3's are between 192-256kbps which isnt even of the highest quality, yet it sounds better than original CD's, amazing!
