I am thinking about purchasing a new Xbox, after the horror of trying to get the broken one replaced, I am wondering if there are any hassle-free 360 warranties out there. I heard some of them get sent off to a technician for fixing, if so do they take as long as the MS repair route? I am really just looking for a warranty where I can bring in old, broken box and get a new one over the till.

I took out GameCare for 1 extra year with Game for around £24. Recently got 3 red rings. Game told me to phone GameCare who then passed me on to Microsoft.

I wasn't too impressed with the fact that I was being told to go to Microsoft even with an extended warranty!!

But not to hijack your thread - it would appear (for now) that after the first year it won't be as simple as an in-store trade in. Check out my thread to see how I get on over the next couple of days.

As far as GameCare itself - they will actually send out a box for you to then send back to them. Repaired or replaced depending on fault, except three red rings which, apparently, "must be sent to MS if its the first time". No mention of time frame.

Gamestation do accidental damage protection (also includes mechanical problems).

I got offered 2 years for £23.99 or 3 years for £34.99

First year take it back to store, second/third year send it off to a company that will either fix it or replace it free of charge.

So from what I can gather Gamestation have the best Ext-warranty?
Just another question, if the Xbox has a failure within the first 12 months, will they replace the Xbox immediately? I went to Argos yesterday and the women told me that in the case of that they would send it to a engineer, which if true, is total bull.

I bought my Elite from Gamestation on the 30th September last year and it went wrong of the 21st September this year so I gave Gamestation a ring and once I mentioned the RROD they said it had to go back to MS.

I wasnt very happy with this so gave their Customer Services a ring the next day and the guy there rang my nearest branch and told them to let me bring my console in for a swap out.

So it might not be straight forward but Gamestation will do a swap out if you pressure them alittle.
