hello everyone.

silly question, but is there a way to plug usb into a thing and have an optical cable come out if it. i have a xbox 360 with the HD player but my surround sound box does not have a hdmi input slot just optical and coxial. i do use the xbox vga cable that has optical output. but i perfer hdmi video display. i think if i use usb from the back of the hd player that would transfer sound, i hope?

Afraid not, what you need is to break the case off the VGA cable so that you can plug it and the HDMI cable in at the same time, that way you will get the best video and also be able to connect optical.

If you dont want to break the case of the cable though, you can always buy the MS Audio Dongle.

thanks for that. i ordered one from ebay. i am glad cause i like the 1080p hdmi over the vga.
