Lines appearing on Screen

Hi,

My Xbox 360 has recently come back from repair, it had got an E73 error, while it has been away I have been collecting HD-DVD movies for the Xbox HD-DVD add on drive I bought a few weeks before the E73 error.

The Xbox that has come back from repair is a brand new one, previously I had been having no problems when watching HD movies or content on the 360 using the HD drive or streaming from a networked PC next door. I'm now seeing horizontal lines on every HD-DVD I play, and movies that I play either off the Xbox HDD or the PC, these lines look similar to the ones seen when a source is interlaced, and the monitor doesn't support it (is it to do with refresh rates?) the lines are roughly 1cm apart and are more visible in darker scenes or fast moving shots, these lines occur when watching trailers downloaded off marketplace (720p ones).

I've set the 360 to 1080p, (my default setting) and It is connected by HDMI (Monster HDMI) to a Sharp Aquos 32" LCD, which supports 1080p, reference levels on the 360 are set to expanded (which I had set before), the standard and intermediate settings don't seem to change anything.

I think I may also be able to see these lines (al be it faintly) on the dashboard, and during games too.

Has anyone any ideas what could be causing this? Any help much appreciated, I'm thinking it could be the 360, as it's a different one?

Many Thanks

I have the same problem when I just play Normal DVD's in the xbox....Never been able to use the xbox for standard DVD's because of this...HD-DVD's however work perfectly fine, not a clue why.

Re: Lines appearing on Screen

Not sure what it could be
If you are seeing it on the Dash and in game aswell then i guess its not the HD Player but maybe the Xbox or the TV. Have you noticed the lines when you put in a different source ? Have you tried another HDMI cable ?

Re: Lines appearing on Screen

Hi,

I tried the standard component cable (the one that comes with all 360's) yesterday, and the problem is still present when using this too, I tried setting to 1080i and 720p, no change.

I wish I had something else HD to test it, But seen as it's a new 360 It would lead me to beleive it's this causing the problems, as it was fine when we had the other one.

Don't know what to do really!

Many Thanks
