HD-DVD drive returns to Dashboard Menu/wont play discs

Hi guys,
I'm having yet another problem with my HD-DVD add on:-(
I watched Heroes and Rambo 2 today - no problems at all, but when i tried to watch another movie tonight the drive wouldn't play any of my hddvds.
From the dashboard, when i press play hd-dvd, the screen fades to black for a few seconds and then returns to the dashboard.
I've cleared the xbox cache, and deleted all the content on the HD-dvd drive memory with no success.
Try again in the morning as it has been on most of the day so may just have overheated but does anybody have any suggestions anyway?

I had the exact same issue, It was from gamestation, I took it back the next day and go a replacment they didnt even ask any questions, I say take it back mate.

Unfortunately i cant take it back - ive had it for over a year. Any other suggestions?

My advice, buy another one. Thats what I did just as aback up and now my original one is managing to overheat itself without my 360 actually on. You can get them for £20 at gamestation. chaepest i've found.

Low and behold my player is back to working this morning - i guess it just needed to cool down. Might pick up a second on e though - 20 quid is a bargain (is the 5 free discs offer still on?).

hmmm, I'm having EXACTLY the same problems. Glad it's not just me - I'm planning on taking mine back to GS this weekend

Not wanting to teach you to suck eggs, but is it fully updated?

I didn't have a problem with any of my discs until I tried to watch Pans Labyrinth.
It kept stuttering and freezing.
I went on live and updated the HD DVD drive and everything playes fine now.

lad, I believe mine is up to date but I don't know to manually update it (other than using the CD it came with). I am also on Live so assume this would have done it anyway?

Mine was fully updated as I was on xbox live all the time, or do we have to find the download ourselves? well sent it back and the second one works how it should so I assume it was a faulty unit
