I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have purchased the XBOX HD Dvd player and connected it to my Sony Vaio laptop with Vista opporating system. The software installed without any issues and ran an update via windows update. I have got Cyberlink power dvd and intervideo windvd. Is this software compatible with this player? The problem i am getting is when i try playing hd dvds it says media type not supported. Anyone got any ideas how to solve this problem or any software that will run hddvds on my Laptop.

The regular editions of power dvd and windvd won't play hd dvd's, it needs to be HD specific versions.

for windvd it needs to be Corel® WinDVD® 9 Plus Blu-ray version, edit. apparently powerdvd no longer offocially supports hd dvd at all, though it can be made to work with some tinkering in powerdvd 8 ultra.

Is there any sort of tinkering guide that is available as i have ultra version of powerdvd. I have also downloaded coreavc-professional-edition. I heard that this is meant to help but i dont know how it works. Can anyone suggest if this i a good piece of software or will help with hd dvd play back?
