360 HD DVD connections

Hi can someone help. I have just bought a 360HD dvd to plug into my console and need to seperate the picture and sound to seperate sources. The hd pic needs to be fed to a hd projector but I want to route the sound to a 5.1 amp which does not have a HD connection. Can I get the sound from the console split to the amp via another lead ?

Sorry I don't know much about projectors but can't you use a VGA cable to the projector and use the optical output to you sound system?

Re: 360 HD DVD connections

the vga conection has seperate audio and video. i presume your problem is you are using HDMI connection. saying Hd connection is very vague as it could be hdmi, component or vga, all of which wil carry a 1080p video for the 360

If you have a hdmi cable on your 360 it would have come with an audio adapter than plugs in to your usual video port on back of the 360. Run 2 phono leads from here to the 5.1amp and the hdmi to the projector. (this is how mine is set up to my TV)

If you have VGA or component you'd plug the VGA lead or the Component Video leads (red, green and blue i believe) into your projector and run the white and red audio leads to the 5.1amp.

Hope that makes sense

Re: 360 HD DVD connections

Connect to the projector with HDMI / Component / VGA & connect to your Amp via Optical; I assume by your Amp not having a "HD connection" you mean it lacks HDMI... right?

Re: 360 HD DVD connections

Obliged for your reply - Yes I did mean that the amp has no hdmi input so I presume I will connect the 360 HD DVD drive to the 360 console via the usb connection, then out of the console with a hdmi lead to the projector for the picture, and out of the console with an optical lead to the amp ?

Think thats right - thanks !
