Xbox not recognising HD player.

I bought the HD add on for my Xbox a few weeks ago, and it's all been working fine.

Today a switch the xbox on to watch an HD film and it doesn't recognise the HD player anymore. The player is plugged in fine and connected up ok. When I put a disk in the drive though, it doesn't allow me to watch the HD-DVD. When I first installed the software the dashboard changed so you could select to either play the CD in the Xbox drive, or to play the HD-DVD but now it only allows me to select to play the game in the Xbox.

I've tried installing the software again but it doens't seem to work, it just keeps asking me to connect the HD player to the xbox which i've already done!

Has anyone else experienced this before, or offer any suggestion?

Cheers, Matt

Yeah, I've tried that with no avail. I've not tried connecting to to my PC yet, but if it work on my Xbox then it's not worth having! I'll have to try and get a replacement I think, I've got loads of HD DVD's on the way and currently no way of playing them!

Re: Xbox not recognising HD player.

Something doesnt sound right mate.
I would take it back if you can.

If it was working and has now given up then somethings wrong.

Have you deleted the HD software off the xbox and re-installed it ?
Actually not sure if you can delete the software

If you have tried disconnecting and re-installing and to no avail then maybe give support a call or return it.

Sorry i cant be more help.
Only just purchased mine and it gave me a scare last night after setting it all up, the 1st disk i put it came up with an Error
Gave it a little clean and no problems now.....the disk was sold as "new"

Re: Xbox not recognising HD player.

Thinking about it, try it with the PC and if that does not work then at least you know its the HD Drive and not your Xbox.
I think they only work with Vista PC's though...i might be wrong.

Where did you get it from ? and when ?

Re: Xbox not recognising HD player.

Alright mate, thanks for replying.

I ended up taking it back and getting it replaced so it's all working fine again now. Couldn't find the software to delete it, and couldn't be bothered faffing with it on my PC.

It's a little concerning though that it cocked up after a week. Iv'e ordered a fair few HD's and if the same thing happens in 6 months I'll be in a mess as I think it will be hard to find anywhere still selling HD players.

It only cost me £20, but it's the principle!

Re: Xbox not recognising HD player.

At least you got it sorted.
Well you should still get 12 months warranty with it.
Might be worth picking up an extra one just in case

Re: Xbox not recognising HD player.

I had the same problem with mine, it turned out to be the USB cable as soon as I switched that it was fine. The USB is the same one as with most smart phones cameras and the PSP.

Hope that helps.
