What would u do to get a more reliable 360?

Funny story, my friend recently traded in his 360 since it looked like it was on its way out again, he wanted to be sure to get a falcon 360 so he paid the guy who served him at Gamestation £20 to look for the newest model he could find out back. Well when he got home the thing red lighted on him, lol, he was'nt sure if it was a falcon though. He took it back and got the guy that served him the first time, and they had a little laugh over it, anyway he got a falcon for sure the 2nd time round, he also managed to get 3 360 dvd cases for free so it aint all bad.

Have u guys seen that big thread on falcon 360s at the xbox.com forums, theres some really funny stuff showing the length some people go to or have been through to get a falcon. I think they are mostly American but people are driving hundreds of miles trying out numerous stores, and going through several 360s looking for a falcon, I wonder what the stores do with all the opened boxes they get back from falcon hunters, just reseal and back on the self? Seriously MS could have put a sticker stating 65nm falcon on the box and charged an extra £20 for it, but they were kind enough to leave it the same price.

Why would you pay an employee of a retail store £20....surely you'd just ask them as a matter of course?

Doesn't the sticker on the box tell you the power supply wattage? 175w = falcon cpu? I think some one needs to tell those guys...

I think they brought out the box then my friend checked the lot number or something on the box before asking the guy to find him another, handing him the money through a crafty handshake. When I asked him why the hell he paid the guy £20, he said u ever try asking a chav for a favour? I'm guessing the money just went straight into that guys pocket.

I'd wait, give it long enough and they'll all be Falcons.

The 64 million dollar question: are Falcons even any more reliable than other 360s? Who knows!

Re: What would u do to get a more reliable 360?

I bought an Arcade just before Christmas because my Premium red ringed. I made the assumption that Microsoft will not be happy to continue to pick up such a big repair bill for long, and that the Falcon is likely to be an attempt to imrprove reliability. I simply asked the staff at Game, Gamestation and Currys to check the wattage on the Arcade boxes - which they were all happy to do. I finally found a Falcon at Currys. None of the staff had heard of the Falcon, and were pleased to be told how to identify them.

Re: What would u do to get a more reliable 360?

my brother was lucky and got a falcon from Argos just before Xmas, now I'm thinking of tacking my 1 year old "RROD" pro back in his box with his receipt, will that work or do they look at the model numbers.

Yes.

So, I answered the question; do I get $64 million? Cash or cheque, either is fine
