Hi,

I want to set up my XBox 360 so that I will get 5.1 audio through my new Sony DAV-DZ230 Home Cinema System.

The TV I am using is the LG 32LC2RR.

I currently have the XBox 360 connected to the TV via the component cable, and the Sony DAV-DZ230 via HDMI.

Is there a way to get the audio from the XBox to output in surround sound on the Sony DAV-DZ230?

What additional cables do I need?

It may be you can't use both component and HDMi at same time.

To see if this is the case, disconnet component lead to see if then you get audio via HDMi.

If I disconnect the component cable connecting the XBox to the TV, then the XBox isn't connected to anything.

I don't think I can connect the XBox directly to the DAV, I may be wrong.

Is there a way to get what ever is being shown on the TV screen to output in surround? Currently only DVDs played on the DAV itself will output in surround sound.

no way to get 5.1 audio from the xbox 360 to that system at all.
it has no connectivity,and no optical connections to get a digital input for surround.
unfortunately,you would have to buy a new system,one with at least 1 optical connection to gain any kind of surround from it.
