VGA cable - no sound

I`ve recently bought a VGA cable (non microsoft) for the 360 from ebay, when I connect it up to my TV (Hannspree), I get a picture but no sound. I sent the cable back and was given a replacement, but still have the same problem. Has anyone else had any issues, as I don`t know if its a problem with the second cable, or my TV.

Cheers

VGA cables dont normally carry audio, not sure entirely with the XBox but with computers you have to have a seperate audio lead.

Re: VGA cable - no sound

vga itself does not carry sound.

however the cable should also include 2 audio jacks which should also be plugeged into your tv or amplifier to get the sound you are hoping for.

Ok

Re: VGA cable - no sound

Try all the tv input channels to check if the sound is coming out any of them. Also go into the settings of your xbox and ensure you have not selected digital output.

Re: VGA cable - no sound

have you selected the correct audio setting in the xbox 360 settings blade.
there may also be a setting in the television, for pc audio,and/or are you sure the connection is an audio in!,on the tv,as some televisions pc audio,is a 3.5mm socket, rather than 2 phonos.

Re: VGA cable - no sound

Have you read the manual for your TV on how to get sound from the VGA's audio input (as mentioned above it may be a 3.5mm jack rather than L/R phono's).

Re: VGA cable - no sound

The audio settings in the blade are set to "digital Stereo", but I have tried all 3 settings, on the TV I connected the audio leads into the red and white connectors I used for the component cables, and I tried then in the "standard" audio inputs.

I will look into this, thanks for the advice, is there a converter that goes from the audio leads to a jack plug

This is your problem. The VGA input should have it's own audio input which is most likely a 3.5mm jack (looks like a headphone socket). You'll need to get a phono-3.5mm jack adaptor.

You can get adapters from places like Maplins.
