Official Remote Compared to Controller

So.... we have divx now, so have got my tv hooked up to my xbox to make use of it, all is well now I dont use orb but.... what is up with the skipping and fast forwarding with the remote? its so painful, I miss XBMC and its 30 sec jumps and holding the trigger to forward.

So my question is.. is controlling the xbox any better with the remote or is it the same painful process but with the added hassle of an extra remote to find?

but besides ease of use is exactly the same process? May aswell save myself some money and stick with the pads then. Might have to break out the xbox and see if it can play HD mkv files or not.
