New Xbox 360 issue

Got a new Xbox 360 for my son. We're having issues getting it hooked up though. On one TV, when I push the INPUT button to switch over all I get is audio of the Xbox loading, no video, just a black screen. Tried another TV and on this one I have AV1, AV2, and COMPONENT. All of these just remain a blue screen when the Xbox is powered on. Could it simply be a faulty cable? I've hooked up plenty of consoles to these TVs, including a Wii and PS2. Needless to say I called Xbox technical help line and the guy simply asked my 10 times if I was sure the cables were plugged in correctly.

Do I really need to make an additional trip to the store?

Re: New Xbox 360 issue

I don't have an HD TV to hook it up to. I'm using the AV cables that came with the Xbox 360 (Halo Special Edition). Yellow to yellow (video), red/white to red/white (audio). I can hear the Xbox welcome screen (or whatever it is) load. I can push buttons on the Xbox controller and hear beeps, but there is simply nothing visible.

Can it be something as simple as the AV cable that was included is no good? I had a PS2 hooked up to this TV today that worked fine.

Re: New Xbox 360 issue

when you use the yellow video lead, you need to make sure the little switch on the xbox 360 end of the lead,is set to "TV".
when using the component ends(red, green, blue),on your other tv,you need to make sure the switch is set to "HD".
and have you tried to connect the leads to the little scart block adaptor that came with the 360,and plug that into the tv.

Yep, it's set correctly to TV. At this point, since I've tried on 2 TVs, I would have to assume that the AV cable is simply not working.

Re: New Xbox 360 issue

Yeah, sounds like it, it also maybe the Xbxo its self (now i feel your pain )

You could try hacking the cable apart and take alook at the end to see if the wires are connected properly, but the best thing to is is take it back to the shop though.

Can you plug it in via scart? (you should of got an adaptor with it) dont know if this will help, but it may (don't see how it could though)

Anyway goodluck,
Chris

Re: New Xbox 360 issue

I know it's mentioned above, but it really does sound like you've got the cable switched on HD, look along the cable find the switch for SD and HD and make sure it's to SD.

Nope, it's not on HDTV, set to TV.

Going to try a new AV cord, and if it's not that just exchange the console.

Thanks for your help.
