Dead DVD Drive

Hi Folks

My Launch 360 stopped reading discs recently, when it did it would constantly display the dreaded 'Dirty Disc' message. I have since bought a new Elite, question is:

Once I transfer my data over to the new 120gb HD and make sure everything works I was thinking of ripping the Premium to prices and buying a replacement DVD Lense off ebay to attempt a repair. Anyone tried this with any success?

Wouldn't mind putting the old 360 on the back room to use when some crappy stuff being watched on the big telly :P (pity u can't share one saved game space)

Cheers
Jon.

Re: Dead DVD Drive

May be easier to replace the whole dvd drive. They seem to be quite cheap on ebay and theres loads on there.

The 360 is resonably easy to take apart as long as youve got the correct torque drivers (think you need T8 and T10).

Heres a guide to show you how to take your 360 apart:

Just be care when removing the back part of the 360 as they have tendancies to snap!

There are also many video guides on youtube
Heres one for example:

Re: Dead DVD Drive

Ta for the response and appologies for posting in the wrong section.

I have ordered a Tool kit with the relevant torx drivers and case removal tool. I'll have a look at the drive when that arrive and maybe order a complete new one from ebay.
