New 360 Elite - Noisy! Advice Please!

Got an elite for xmas. Setting it up fine, switched on and thought 'thats nice and quiet', put a disc in the drive and amazed at how loud the drive seems to be! PS3 is a lot quieter. Now is this normal?

I got an elite as I heard about it having a falcon chipset that should make it run quieter etc, does this not apply to the disc drive?

I have a Team : FDOU, Lot no : 0745, build date : 2007-11-06

need to know if you think i should take it back or whether this is just normal. thanks guys.

If the power supply is 175w then you have a Falcon. Falcon does not mean quieter, it just means cooler. The DVD drive on all 360s is very loud.

Yeah i have a falcon arcade and its stupidly noisey, have to turn tv up.

Yep its normal, my Elite is a Falcon Chipset one.
It does not make it quieter just makes it run cooler and stops the dreaded RROD from happening i believe.

Or use headphones like I do. I use a pair of Logitech Wireless headphones for gaming - saves deafening everyone else

You soon get used to the noise. I hardly notice mine now once I'm gaming.
