There are a number of alternatives that people have mentioned on the forums.
e.g.
Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter - do you need the official one?

Actually PeBe is wrong (well maybe wrong is too strong but it looks like you are saying there non MS adapters that work and there are not) - you cannot use a USB wireless adapter that isnt made by MS.

You can of course buy a external device like a wireless bridge which connects via the network socket, which is what is in the post he is linking, - but thats the same as connecting it to any network device via a networkcable.

I just want to clear it up incase anyone was reading this as it suggests there are USB options where in fact there are not you need a wireless bridge or router or powerline or any of the normal networking devices that are not Xbox specific - just like a PC.
