Play & Charge kits

Hi all, im brand new to xbox 360's

i just bought 2 x play and charge kits... (£20 at game instore)

Are these similar to what I do witht he ps3 controllers... just plug in to the usb with the console on, and leave the controllers to charge??

is there anyway to tell when fully charged?

Whilst charging, the light in the top of the cable is Red.

Like most things, once fully charged, the light turns to Green.
