120gb to 120gb Transfer?

HI,

I bought a 120gb hard drive a while back for my arcade and I have now got an elite and the grey HDD looks out of place. Can I transfer from one to another as I know the cable is mainly for 20gb to 120gb or 60gb to 120gb etc

No mate you can't as i had the same problem.
Ring xbox support up and ask them to send you a new upto date transfer cable

Here are the numbers -

020 7365 9792
or 0800 587 1102
Hearing Impaired (TTY device):
0800 587 1103
Hours of operation:
Monday-Friday: 09:00-22:00
Saturday: 09:00-20:00
Sunday: 09:00-17:00
.

What ever you do don't do a gamertag recovery as this only recovers your live profile.
I have a new cable being sent to me and the bloke said it will work transfering data from a 120gb to another 120

wicked cheers mate but I found an even easier way. Recover your gamertag onto your new hard drive

Buy a 256mb card and save all your game saves on it.

Copy over

Take memory card back within the day

source: How to transfer data from one Xbox 360 console to another by using the Hard Drive Transfer Kit

Quote:
Transfer content from your existing Xbox 360 Hard Drive

You have the option to perform a one-time transfer of all content from your existing Xbox 360 Hard Drive (source) to another Xbox 360 Hard Drive (destination). Whether you decide to do this or not, understand that both units are fully compatible with your Xbox 360 console, and will continue to be after the transfer is completed.

Important Content can be moved only to a destination disk that is the same size as or larger than the source disk. Also, the content can be moved only one time. For example, the following Xbox 360 Hard Drive pairings enable data transfer from source to (">") destination:20GB > 20GB
20GB > 60GB
20GB > 120GB
20GB > 250GB
60GB > 60GB
60GB > 120GB
60GB > 250GB
120GB > 120GB
120GB > 250GB
250GB > 250GB

@ Manowar68 - I make clear what you mean.
You have got a transfer cable and software disk that came with the 120GB HDD but it will not work with transferring 120 > 120.

I have the following software as printed on the disk not sleeve. Part No. X13-59879-01

What is the code for the working software? (Please let us know when it arrives)

I assume the new software was made available when the 250GB HDD came out. Are my assumptions regarding your situation correct?

On the sleeve/instructions of the CD that comes with the transfer kit you will have a connection diagram.

If it say "120gb HDD" next to the picture of the HDD, it will only work between 20gb > 120gb or 120gb > 120gb

If it doesn't say "120gb HDD" next to the picture of the HDD, it will work on any HDD.
