Xbox 360 RROD - First 4 lights then 3 - what does it mean?

Hi there,

When I turn my Xbox 360 on, at first it flashes with 4 out of 4 red lights, then it flashes with 3 out of 4 red lights, what does it mean and is there a cure?

You have the ring of death...
If you bought your xbox less than three years ago from new then you will be able to get it repaired for free off MicroSoft.

Go to xbox support and register your xbox and take it from there..

If your xbox is older than 3yr you can do something called the xclamp repair which involves taking the xbox apart and replacing the xclamps with screws and washers.

Rgrds Jonny

Edit:
This should help you determine what your error is: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484726

Hope its ok to post links if not mod please remove....

4 Red lights is usually the AV cable is not connected properly, or indeed at all. Perhaps you've turned the console on without it connected and it then red ringed after a few seconds?
