Thats a shame.

Best get on to them and give em a grilling, or you could take it like a little girl and fork up the cash...

Re: Microsoft are robbing me blind

Had this happen to me - when I rang them and they asked me for £90 I told them I wasn't going to pay it, and instead use the money towards a Wii.

2 days later they rang me back and offered half price repair and a free gift (read old launch game) for the inconvenience as it wasn't the first repair I'd had.

When I accepted, they asked what gift I'd like, so I asked what was on offer and they said I could have an accessory or a game

"Can I have the camera then please"
"Sorry out of stock"
"Wireless headset?"
"Sorry out of stock"
etc, etc...

Eventually I was offered a free game which came to...

"Call of Duty 2"
"I've got that already"
"PGR3?"
"Got that..."
"Perfect Dark Zero?"
"Got that..."

a few more games later...

"Viva Pinata?"
"Oh for god's sake - yes, just give me Viva Pinata..."
"Ok, but Viva Pinata's out of stock, can you wait 2 weeks?"
"What? Why can't I wait 2 weeks for camera instead?"

Don't let them bully you into forking out, let them think they're losing a customer and start chasing you.

Re: Microsoft are robbing me blind

No way in this world would I everrrr pay £90 quid to get my xbox repaired which no doubt would be a refurbished model, especially when the price of a BRAND new arcade isn't that much more. If you have 3 red lights just tell them its 2 red lights or the E74 error message which are covered under Microsofts extended 3 years warranty. The muppet on the phone isn't going to know and when it gets to the repair centre no ones going to even notice and even if they do can't see much of a fuss being kicked up. You'll get it done for nothing!

I agree with Tyler, if Microsoft have previously repaired/replaced it then you can argue if it has broken down again in a short space of time (within I would say 3 years after the last repair).

You can argue they must not have repaired it correctly and then dispute this under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.

A lot of people have done it and got a free repair from Microsoft.

Just make sure you are adamant that you do not mean the Sale of Goods Act as this is with the original retailer.

Microsoft will try and get clever and telephone you up to try and say that the Sale of goods act is with the original store and thus totally unrelated to Microsoft.

They would be correct, but not telling you the whole story as firstly if they have repaired the console then you have no rights under the Sale of Goods act no longer, and secondly you are disputing this under a different Supply of goods act which would be with Microsoft.

Don't pay them a penny!.
