New console - all jaspers now ?

I'm going to buy a new Elite to replace my faulty one. If I go to game/gamestation etc will they all be Jasper consoles in stock by now or would I be better off buying from a private trader (forums...), who guarentees it's a Jasper board - and is it worth worrying about anyway ?

Is the one off the trader new? Is it cheaper? If so go with it. Or go into Gamestation and just check it before you leave the shop. You can tell by looking through the serial flap or by the box design.

OR Get a super elite.

250GB and its quiet as a mouse!

Wait till next year, theres 2 new chipsets to be released, 1 is an upgraded Falcon for Non HDMI consoles called the Opus.

Then theres the new one slated to bring the GPU and CPU into one super quiet, super cool, um superchip called the Valhalla chipset. This will be for HDMI consoles.

Your best bet is to goto Argos as they are selling 360 elites with 2 controllers and 3 games for £197.99

which is a shame as i bought one from Game for £199 with 2 games and 1 controller 2 weeks ago (Bad Timing!!!)

Surely the Super Elite is just a normal Elite with a bigger drive - if it's quiet then the Jasper Elites should be as quiet shouldn't they.

I can't wait till next year !

Dont ask me mate, I was confused aswell. Ill be opening her up tomorrow so it will be interesting to see what has changed if anything has!

one of the differences in some models(not all are manufactured at the same plant), is the step back in cooling, no heatpipe, and smaller heatsinks on some.

Just to let people know. The helpful staff in the Game shop opened the box and we checked the power supply to make sure it was a 150w.

The fans are much quieter than my old 175w Falcon Elite, of course the DVD drive is still noisy, but I tend to install games to HDD anyway.

Got quite a good deal too Elite + COD MW2 + Forza3 for 199.99.
I've already got MW2 so I'll just sell the second copy on here or Ebay, should be able to get 20odd quid for it sealed.
