Exclamation Upgraded to an Elite, HDD Transfer questions etc. (Help Appreciated)

I bought an Elite bundle from GAME yesterday to replace my Pro from 11 months ago. A guy from work is buying my 360 (still has 2 years extended cover from GameStation) but before he gets it I need to Transfer my stuff from my old 60gb HDD to my new 120gb HDD. Im aware I need a Hard Drive Transfer Kit but im not sure of the quickest way to get one, any ideas?

Also, whilst im waiting to get my hands on the HDD Transfer kit it would be nice to play on my new 360 with my old HDD, which raises a few questions...

1) Will it recognise the fact I have my old HDD on a new console and expect me to register it?

2) Will registering it with my old 60gb HDD on affect anything when it comes time to put my new 120gb HDD on? Would you recommend registering it with the new HDD on?

3) How do I go about un-registering my old 360 ready for its new owner? (don't wanna leave my details attached to it)

4) Ive purchased multiple games on the Marketplace, are they gonna "travel" ok? Lol! I'd hate to have to buy them again!

Any help would be hugely appreciated, as well as any other suggestions.

Many thanks, fu510n

Re: Upgraded to an Elite, HDD Transfer questions etc. (Help Appreciated)

I just did this exact thing recently.

The transfer kit took about 10 days after I posted the form (you'll need the details of both XBox's for the form, which you download from the XBox Live site).

Transfer took about an hour. No problems with any of my DLC, though I haven't yet tried all the Arcade games I purchased.

While I waited for the arrival of the transfer kit, I used the Elite with the Pro HD attached - again, no problems.

I'm not sure how you go about unregistering. I gave my Pro to my son and kept it registered in my name for ease of management (as my account is more stable - you know kids, always changing account details, gamertag, etc).

You can also use that online license management scheme on Live to move your licenses. I don't know how it works as I've never used it. I don't game offline, so I don't have much use for license management (at least, I think that is what the scheme is for, but I don't know for certain - I just know I've never had any problems with DLC between XBox's - my son visits often and brings his account with him on a MU and we game together).

Cheers for the quick response

Ill apply for the kit today and hopefully get things moving

Just one more thing, could I give the guy at work everything except the 60gb HDD and still be able to do the transfer? Or do you need both consoles present to do it?

Many thanks

You only need a single console, you connect one HDD to the console and the other to the cable.

Post in here and you may get a kit quicker than you would from MS. Its worth applying for the MS kit anyway, as you can always pass/sell it on once its done with

EDIT: I see you already found the thread

Re: Upgraded to an Elite, HDD Transfer questions etc. (Help Appreciated)

Got the transfer kit from the "bike" system here, just wanna make sure that im doing it right...

My new Elite with 120gb HDD is connected to my 60gb HDD via the transfer cable plugged in the back of the console. To clarify, my 120gb is in the top of the console and the 60gb is on the cable...

Am I good to go?

Nope.

The old hard drive (60gb) is the one you connect direct to the console and the new drive (120gb) is the one you connect to the transfer kit cable.

Also, make sure you connect the transfer cable to the USB port ON THE BACK OF THE CONSOLE.
