Programming the Universal Media Remote

I am following the instructions on this link

Set Up & Program Your Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote | Xbox Support

i can seemingly program my remote so i can change my TV's volume, channels etc

has anyone successfully managed this?

I have a Panasonic plasma th-42px but cannot get it to work.

Part of the instruction says:
Quote:
Press and hold the TV and OK buttons simultaneously for two seconds. All of the buttons on the remote will then light up for two seconds, after which only the numeric TV buttons (1–12) will remain lit.
but for me the TV button stays on as well (RED)

It's meant to do that, best way to program the remote is to use the method below

To scan for a TV code:
Turn on your TV and point the remote toward it.
Press and hold the TV and OK buttons simultaneously for two seconds. All of the buttons on the remote will then light for two seconds, after which only the numeric TV buttons (1–12) will remain lit.
Press the CH/PG button to send a series of off commands to your TV. Repeat until the TV turns off.
Note
Give your TV enough time to respond to the off command after each button press. Some TVs take more time to react to off commands than others.

Press the TV button to save the code and exit. All buttons on the remote will blink three times to confirm the code.

If you want to input the code, these are the Panny ones:
Panasonic 0135, 0150, 0215, 0063, 0071, 0074, 0127, 0135, 0150, 0215, 0528, 0530, 0566, 0228, 0228, 0170, 0179, 0180, 0211

Try contacting Microsoft with your tv model.
I programmed mine to my samsung after 3 presses, works a treat.

You could also ask in the panasonic Plasma threads.

Re: Programming the Universal Media Remote

Cheers finally got it,
my model of tv actually requires a long hold of the off button to switch the tv off so thats probably the reason why the TV would switch off

I just followed the manually instructions and when the red led on the tv flickered i guessed that that was the right code.

Works fine now!
