i have the chance of buying an xbox 360 for cheap , it has the 3 red lights on it though. its my girlfriends younger brother and i know it hasnt been abused etc , he has had it for a few years so i take it the warrenty will be over , is it worth me getting and getting some one to fix it ?

You`ll probably get a better response in the 360 forums, this ones for the original xbox.

TBH i wouldnt bother trying to fix it, i had a dead 360 that i repaired doing the x-clamp removal, it worked for a couple of weeks then got the rrod again, stripped it down, new thermal paste, heatsinks tightened down again and this process was repeated every couple of weeks for a few months untill one day it ended up in the bin. pointless .... If your method of repair involves someone with an IR station reflowing the BGA then you might have better success than me, your moneys probably better spent on a new one.

You can get the repair kit reasonable cheap so it may be worth splashing out and attempting to fix it yourself, if it fails, you haven't lost much? Check my sig
