Ripping HD DVD's for personal use

Mods please advise if this is not allowed and please feel free to close if improper.
I work offshore in the oil industry and take my laptop with me for watching films etc. I use My Movies to rip my own DVD's to my Media Centre for watching. I also own about 100 or so HDDVD's and was wondering is there anyway of ripping these so that I can watch them offshore without taking my 360hddvd addon and all the discs as weight is a big issue and I have the worlds biggest laptop which weighs about the same as a small car anyway.

I would like to stress that I own all the films I rip.

Thanks

Chris

Re: Ripping HD DVD's for personal use

Its not illegal tp back up your own stuff, so ths thread should be fine.
I use Any DVD HD to back up my HD DVDS...
Very easy, and use arcsoft 3.0 to play them back.
You will not be able to control the DVD menu with the mouse, but it does allow for keyboard interaction...

Hope this helps..

It does indeed.
Very simple and easy to use, hence why I have 70 movies on my HTPC..

Thank you, off to buy any hd dvd, added bonus of being able to use laptop as a media centre with my pj when home without loading up discs and 360 whine.

Just download it form Slysoft.. I don't know whether yiu can buy a retail version in the shops..
1 more thing, your Laptop recognises the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive? I can't guarantee this will work for you.
I have an LG HD DVD/Blu ray combo drive, works great..
