Now i no longer have this problem and i no longer have to sit so upright with the wheel in an unatural position. As a result i was far more accurate with the wheel and once i get used to the position of the pedals i'm sure i'll be bale to start lapping quickly and consistently.

If like me you don't have the wherewithal to build your own cockpit then it's a 100 quid well invested, plus it won't annoy the Mrs as it looks good (read 'acceptable' as the word which will come out of her mouth ) and packs away
I am very tempted for ease and space etc.... but just struggling to justify the £100 investment.... mind you to build one i would need to spend approx £25 on wood etc anyway, and may end up with a complete abortion of a rig..... dilemmas.

Mate just get the wood yard to cut the wood for you and all you need to do is screw it together. If you can muck that up then it's best you just buy one @ £75 more

Just been to my local Game & Gamestation and they know nothing regarding the Forza 3/Wheel bundle,so i've purchased the MS Wheel(£69.99) and the manager of Game has told me & also written on my reciept that "if come the 23rd and a bundle is released or we are doing some sort of deal on Forza 3 & The Wheel then bring your reciept back and I will refund any difference".

ideally i need something that cost effect, foldable and can be used for the wheel and keyboard and mouse and about maybe 50cm in length to accommodate the keyboard and mouse. oh and if its from ikea thats better as i can get discount.

There is a promo on now at Game; £10 off the wheel when purchased with Forza 3. Get down there and get your tenner back Might be worth calling first to make sure, but as the offer was displayed on proper point-of-sale cards I'd assume it's available at other stores.

You lucky person you.

Let us know first impressions as I am seriously tempted with this, despite having the ms wheel and a G25.

I am about to lash up a cable to connect the g25 pedals to the ms wheel, which, short of the Fanatec, will be the best compromise set up available on the 360.

Re: Xbox 360 Steering Wheels

Does anyone have any suggestions for afixing the MS wheel to a playseat evolution without the official adapter plates? I would have ordered these from Game at £15 but they are out of stock and would rather not pay the £30 being asked elsewhere!

Smile Re: Xbox 360 Steering Wheels

Took some pics of my gaming wheel stand build as promised and have written on all the wood the sizes used. (3/4 inch Finished Plywood) Only the sides I have not done this as you can make them any size that suits. I made mine from a 27inch x 27inch Square of 3/4 inch plywood but you can adjust the shape and size to suit. Also too a picture of the screws used and as said in an earlier post the wood yard cut all my wood to shape apart from the sides as I did them myself. Not difficult to build and adjust size, angles of base for pedals or the top angle to mount the wheel.

The Fanatec wheel is great. Quality of the Build is extremely good. What impressed me the most was the FFB due to it been diven by a Belt drive, it was smooth and Consistant and actually gave you a feel that the cars have some weight to them due to the FFB being quite strong. Instead of for the MS Wheel that i had which even on Full FFB seemed i felt was quite loose and inconsistent.

I'm actaually 1 second a lap quicker with this wheel than i am with MS Wheel.

However when you start racing the Really quick cars with Manual and Clutch with H Shifter it really starts putting you driving skills to the test as there is so much going on.

Damn, never thought of that
Just out my bed as I was in the Zone till 4am this morning (Glad I have no work today), loving some of the longer tracks but have to admit I am so glad of the rewind feature. Imagine doing 7 miles then losing it on the last bend, think I would probs put my foot through the thing
Can't wait till my Fanatec wheel comes though as my MS one is playing up, sometimes the buttons and paddles don't work, many a corner I would change down to 2nd only to either end up in 1st gear or reverse so thank goodness for rewind
So what do you think of forza 3 so far then??

Re: Xbox 360 Steering Wheels

just got a ms wireless wheel. note in the instruction book that i should have had a install disc (just came with a grid demo disc). i didnt get this but have managed to connect my wheel to the 360 and seems to be working ok with forza 3.

therefore, is the install disc necessary?

You dont need the install disc now the drivers for the wheel are included in one of the many dashboard updates.

Re: Xbox 360 Steering Wheels

Just got myself a MS Wheel for 20€ in perfect condition.

As I wasn't sure if I was going to like using a wheel but after a couple of games I truly love it, it changes the whole concept of console racing, the fun factor sure went up.

The Mrs even proposed to get a playseat installed in the gaming room

Now that I tried this I went online to see what other wheels were available and I bumped into the G25/G27 for the PS3, these wheels seem so much better, now it got me wondering if I should get my racing games for the PS3 instead and use the X360 for the other games.

On the other hand, why didn't Logitech bring out those wheels for the xbox, you can't ask people to get the different special accessories 3 times, 1 for each console

Exactly my thinking.... £500 or so for the Porsche steering wheel or £100 for the G25 and another £200 for a PS3 MMmm

Think you are looking at the wrong wheel, the wrong website or need to go to specsavers
£500. Do I get a racing suit and shoes as well becasuse for my £329. I can use mine with my PC, Xbox 360 and my PS3.
For this I get all of this: Force Feedback racing wheel with leather wheel rim for Xbox360
Black painted metal shifter paddles
RF dongle for compatibility to PlayStation®3 and PC
Wired pedals with clutch
6+1 speed gear shift
Sequential gearshift
Steel Plate (for pedals)
Power supply
Quick guide
Drilling template

Compatibility:

Xbox360:
The wheel is compatible to all games which support the Microsoft wireless wheel for Xbox360.
The 6+1 Speed shifter is compatible to all future racing games which support this shifter.

PC / PlayStation 3
You can connect the wheel to these platforms with either a USB cable or with the RF dongle (PWTRF)

Pedal compatibility:
Microsoft wireless wheel for Xbox360 pedals (with optional adapter)
Logitech G25 pedals (with optional adapter)

Fanatec Porsche Standard Pedals

Fanatec Clubsport Pedals (optional)
Now not wishing to make you sound mmmmm like you have not done enough research, I think this is pretty good value for a future proof wheel and pedal set.

Re: Xbox 360 Steering Wheels

I just looked at the best one they had Porsche 911 Turbo S Wheel at 500 Euro... How much better is that that than G25, the one you have, is that better than the G25 because if not I can still get a G25 and PS3 for cheaper than £329

The wheel and pedal set you looked at had the metal Clubsport Pedals and these on their own are 199.95EUR so this set cannot be compared with the logitech. Don't think they can be compared with anything really as they really are amazing.. To save you the bother of going back to the Fanatec website though I have copied the info on them for you:

A Masterpiece of engineering made of Aluminium and with the use of contactless sensors and a load cell sensor for the brake. With ForceFeedback actuator on the brake and fully adjustable.
Works like a separate USB input device and you can connect it directly to several Porsche Wheels.

What you should also look at is the compatability of the Fanatec wheel, it's compatible with the PS3, The 360 and your PC and for the £329. (345.95Euro) Set you do get a lot of accessories.

Right I'm off to put my racing suit and boots on, hey have any of you guys noticed that your crash helmet Visor steams up really quickly when you have the central heating on ?

Have to say I liked this design so much I changed my original design to something similar. I liked that it folded up but being miserable with my cash I decided that it needed to be simple and light, easy to build and I should be able to get the whole thing made from half a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood cut in straight lines from the wood yard @ £12.50 (Seriously)

Did I manageit? I will take a picture later and post it up, my original design is here:

Sounds like all you need now for ultra realism is someone to hit you with a bat when you crash
