Gamestation returns policy for games

Gamestation returns policy for games

I'm not sure exactly which forum to post this in so I thought I'd try here first.

My son was in a dilema on Saturday as he didn't know whether to buy My Sims for the Wii or Skate for the 360 at the weekend while he was out with his friends, he ended up going for My Sims got it home and after a few hours of play end up wishing he'd bought Skate.

I know Game used to have a 10 day returns policy, but I believe they scrapped it last year, I don't suppose anyone knows if GameStation have anything similar?

Yeah, Gamestation have a 10 day return policy. Should be fine to swap it for skate.

This is their online returns policy, I guess instore will be much the same.

Your son has played it tho hasn't he? If he has they might not take it back

I think your best option would be to trade it in for skate. Hopefully you wont lose too much on it.

It's worth trying to get it exchanged. I would explain the situation and if you get a sympathetic manager he may be willing to exchange it for the full value. You never know until you try.

I bought a couple of games from them a few weeks back (it was when Madden 08 and TW 08 were released) they guy serving me said "Don't worry if you don't like them, you've got 10 days to bring them back and swap them for something else if you don't", so it may just be an individual branch decision.

They keep all the discs behind the counter anyway, don't they? So I can't see how they can tell if you've played them or not, as everything is opened when you buy it, unless of course you've scratched the disc or something.

That quote is from the website, so buying from there means you get a proper sealed copy.

The website's also covered by Distance Selling Regs which is 7 days, so you'll probably find instore it's different. From the sounds of it in this thread, that's 10 days.

The 10 day exchange policy is back. I did it at the weekend

Seems strange how Game doesn't do this considering it now owns Gamestation

Because people abuse it. Unfortunately, these people who buy a game, play it through then return it every week killed it. My advice is to read reviews, ask the sales assistants their opinion on a games suitability and ask about the returns policy before making a decision.

Alternatively, say it's faulty and crashes an hour into playing and convince them it's not your system that's at fault ('i tried my friends copy of the game' is a good one). You will then get a refund, but you'll lose a little bit of your soul.

I had a similar conversation with the guy at gamestation, and he said that the deal hasn't gone through yet, so Game DON'T actually own Gamestation at the moment, but the cogs are in motion...

As far as i was aware the distance selling regulations dont apply to software

Thanks for the advice guys, took it back yesterday, explained the situtation, they checked the disc wasn't scratched and swapped it for Skate, one very happy son

I just bought rainbow six vegas 2 from gamestation, today and I don't really like it do you think I can take it back and get a credit note for the full value I purchased it.
