Those shots are indeed ingame, taking advantage of the xbox 360s HD capability. the developers have made it clear that this is what the console can do.
There is also a strong rumour that the xbox 360 may just pip the PS3 as far as graphics go due to the fact that the PS3 is based on a modified nvidia 7800GTX core and the xbox 360 is based of the ati Fudo R500(or R520) core which again insiders are saying beats out the 7800gtx with out to much bother. Rumour for sure but at least the PS3 will do SACD and have blue ray 1080p output which is a big thumbs up.

Looks like will just have to buy both as usual

Are they difinitley, without a doubt, 100% in game though ? It would be nice to see a 'from behind the car' in game shot with the speedo and map as well as place positions etc etc.

The thing is that the PS3 will cost at least 50% more than the xbox 360, so people won't really care about the specs will they. Who can afford £500 for a PS3. I certainly can't and consider myself a big gamer.

I very much doubt the PS3 would be more than £400.

And who has a 1080p capable tv anyway? Add that to the price of a PS3 and you are looking at a hefty bill.

Exactly, I think that they are a generation too early with the 1080p resolution. Most people still don't have anything above 480i/575i ! I've personally just upgraded my Projector from the Epson TW-10h (480p) to the (720p) Sanyo Z3 (due to the recent price drop) and feel that 720p will be more than adequate for the next 3 years at least.

IMO MS have done everything right with the 360. They are bringing us a powerful console, with Hi Def output, a fantastic community building online system, wireless pads, loads of customisation aspects, a great launch line up and they are releasing first, before Christmas! They also seem to be releasing it at a sensible price (£250-£300 is the estimated price). I don't personally think that they could have done anything better with this console so far.

On the other hand the PS3 seems to be getting more negative vibes than anything else. People think that it will be overpriced, incapable of reproducing the tech demo's they have shown and it will be released at least a year after the 360 over here.

From what i've seen of the 360 (in real game demo's) it is definately capable of the sort of ingame images that we've seen for PGR3. OK the ones shown are from replay type views and it would be good to see some proper in car shots with dials etc. but I do think that the ones shown are definately generated real time by the game engine.

the cost of PS3 WILL be competative.
Playstation is sonys leading brand. you realy think they will kill there money spinner by over pricing PS3??
No there going to take a big hit in the hope that they will shift X million consoles and keep the cash flowing through big software sales.

1080p Will not be the only res the PS3 will be able to output, but the fact it can do it is only a good thing.
where sony is badly lacking is in online gaming. M$ has so got it right i cant see sony doing better.

Sony need PS3 to be a Killer Ape, there company depends on it. £399 at launch and no more

again PGR3 developers website, they have already been slated as lyers and they continue to maintain that this is indeed ingame shots, infact they even showed how they constructed the buildings that even have inside detail!!

A new era of gaming is about to arrive thanks to M$.

I must admit the last generation change, ie Playstation to PS2 was not as bigger leap as they forecast . However seeing these posted shots I believe that this is the future of gaming that I have longed for. Seeing Ghost Recon 3, Gears of War etc running in Hi Def is getting this 39 yr old 'boy' v excited indeed.
