4 player co-op without xbox live?

Hi,

Can i play games such as Gears of War 2 of COD in 4 player co-op without having any xbox live membership?

I'm just wondering as I have 2 TV's, and if somebody brought their xbox 360 around there would also be 2 of these? However currenly we have no live membership between us.

Is it possible?

Thanks,

Ben

Most/some games will have system link options - so if you network the 2 xboxes together you shouldn't need to go on Xbox Live.
I'm not sure which games have this option but if it has Xbox Live play it should have System Link as well.

Thnaks for the replys,

Seems it is poosible then, but not with the two games I mentioned.

At least that means I don't have to work out how to interlink 2 xboxes!

Cheers

I think Gears of War 2 can be done over a LAN and has system link capabilities. If your linking 2 consoles you should be able to do split screen on both and then create/join a match over that LAN. The campaign for Gears of War 2 is only 2 player but multiplayer and Horde mode should allow for more players.

I used to played Halo 3 over a LAN connection. You can do this in several ways, if you have a router the easiest way (well the way I do it) would be to just connect all consoles to the router (wired or wirelessly).

I think if you have the wireless adaptor (or a network type cable) you should be able to link the 2 consoles directly, although I've never tried this or know 100% if this way works.

Do you have the silver (free) membership?

Re: 4 player co-op without xbox live?

A few games require a Gold Membership for no apparent reason. L4D needs each 360 to have at least one Gold gamertag in order to system link.

Ok, thanks guys.

I may try this at the weekend then.

So I just need to connect both boxes to the same router and then all should come up in the multiplayer menus?

Thanks,

Ben

That's how I used to play over a LAN. Well I never played Gears or CoD over a LAN but at a guess I think if it's there it would work something like this.....
It should be under System Link / LAN option. I think (if I remember correctly) in Gears of War when you go into Horde or Multiplayer setup screens from the main menu there is a setting somewhere that lets how you want the game to be (i.e. Local or Xbox Live or System Link/LAN).
