What do you make of Race Pro then? Best simulation of racing on the Xbox 360 or an unplayable nightmare? Please leave comments and a vote in the poll once you've played the game enough to judge it.

And the drum roll for first spoiler vote goes to Supergamer2009, did you read the original post?

If the game is so "worthless" why didn't you post in the play and help or the preview thread. More to the point why didn't you backup your actions by reviewing it in here too. If a game is judged to be worthless by one of the users on here then it should be clarified why exactly so other people may avoid a "terrible" game.

Given the scope of the game and how long its been out I take this review with as much of a pinch of salt as the 10 you've given Killzone 2. Recently in a thread you accused another user of "possibly" being a fanboy yet your actions here hardly prove you to not be one either

Just in case you forgot the remark:
The Xbox 360 compared to other gaming platforms

I Cant Understand ur Post and u cant have played it enuf/at all to have posted that. Were u more drunk than me??
He wasn't judging it or flaming it in anyway when posting the Review thread.
If u had played it, u would understand the very simple comments he made.
I voted Good, as quite simply dont deserve more at the moment, i have at times thought wow it's very good but in general it's only Good at this time.
Once bugs fixed and a ton of DLC released may need an "exceptional" poll added.

I have voted Good, and only because of the handling.
Every other aspect of the game incl Online (ATM) is just awful.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

Voted Average.

Never bought a game that i've been so close to trading so soon after purchase. Initially dissapointed but gave it chance to grow on me, and it did to a certain degree. The driving model in some cars is great in others it's such a chore, as is the career contract mode.

The AI is terrible and 'lifeless' and will often spin you out or just barge into you, very annoying on some street tracks particularly.

It's main saving grace for me is the potential for AVforums Time Trail competitions, but tbh we could do this on any number of games like forza, gt5p and even pgr4.

I quoted Munkey Boy to highlight the important message of leaving comments and only reviewing a game when you've played it for a decent length of time. I've read my post again and I don't understand why you can't understand it m8 . The message was for Supergamer2009 who did the worthless vote then didn't review it. I was just pointing out what Munkey Boy said clearer in the quote.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

I'm not a big gamer, but I do enjoy the xbox.

Wanted a good driving sim, bought this, was initially dissapointed, then gave it some time and now I'm loving it. I've been lucky to have no noticable tearing, and I am LOVING the online play. Change that to WAS loving the online play, as for the first time last night I started getting seriour frame drops/lag which culminated in my xbox completely freezing up.

However, thats happened to me before on many games and I'm not sure if its directly related to the game, my connection, my xbox, or the servers. Who cares anyway, I'm easily pleased, and where I thought PGR4 was "Good" I think RP is "Excellent" (coming from a very casual gamer who likes to just pickup and play.)

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

I rated it 1 because after playing the game for 2 hours straight I decided I didnt like it and traded it in for Halo Wars (which I'm loving). If I dislike a game enough to want to trade it in that quickly it can't be good. I was straight back to another driving game. Only one other game in the Xbox 360 libary has made me trade that quickly and that was Alone in the Dark. I should add that driving games are prob the hardest genre to please me. I either love it or hate it.

The reason I didnt post a comment is because I prefer to praise games rather than criticise them. Some people take it personally.

P.S. And btw KZ2 is a 10/10 game. Its fantastic.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

I voted this excellent, because it brings physics, driving sensation and feel that cannot be found on any other console racing game.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

i've not voted yet because i don't think i'll be in a position to vote on it until at least a month has passed. By this time i'll know if atari have any intention to patch the online segment of the game and i'll also be more accurately able to assess just how great a detrimental impact the many broken and sub par elements of the game detract from what is one of the best physics engines for a console racer.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

I voted 'very good'.

It's on the track where this game really excels and it does it better than any other racing sim I've played. For me Race Pro delivers the most immersive driving experience of any console racing game. Whether it's the most realistic or not I couldn't say as I've never driven a racing car, but in my opinion the driving physics feel fantastic and very natural. This game is a pleasure with the Wireless wheel, and it has been implemented much better than in Forza (imo).

Unfortunately I couldn't rate this game any higher for obvious reasons, which is a shame. The graphical issues such as tearing and frame rate drops are not a huge issue for me, but the bottom line is they shouldn't happen, especially as Race Pro hardly pushes the boundaries visually, compared to the stunning Forza that runs seamlessly at 60Hz. Having said that I think the visuals in Race Pro are decent.

Crash damage/physics is a let-down for me, as is the AI. Race Pro has not lived up to expectations in this department and it has made me appreciate how well both of these were done in Forza. Plus, there are just a number of little niggles here and there that let the game down a little.

Finally, we again see a game released with a broken online mode which marks it down further. Hopefully this will be patched.

One thing I will add is that the price of this game was dropped to around £29.99 which is good to see. Simbin said that it was because of the hardcore nature of the game and they didn't want it to be overlooked, but maybe it was more to do with it being a little rough around the edges (me being cynical). But for this price I will more than get my money's worth from Race Pro.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

All the ingredients for a good racing game but released before it was ready. Handling seemed up there with Forza. Online is terrible and needs a patch. Lobby system a joke. Frame rate spoils it most for me.
I voted below average. But im biased towards online play so i might have voted average had i not taken that into account.
A better single player game than Forza 2

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

i've finally decided on an 8. Its the best racer i've played but the gfxs whilst not a detriment to gameplay are a disappointment, the exact same could be said for the framerate.

The online can be so so due the same developer laziness that has seen sub-par front end but when it works its great

This game is outstanding, i have it setup in professional on hard and using a playseat, it is the best racing game ive played on a console in a long long time

The graphics might not be up to much, but this is about racing, and it does that brilliantly

Just the fact that you suggest the style of racing in Race Pro is similar to GRID but done better by Codie's game says it all. This game was never for you.

Eh?

I can understand Forza as an alternative as it is a great racing sim, but GRID?

Really?

Having now played this game for a few hours i am extremely disappointed. It is not unplayable but does not live up to the level of the other racers available on the 360. Not worth buying unless you can get it at a bargain price.

That's a real shame.

I was really looking forward to this

I love sim racers though so I'll keep an eye out for one a cheapo copy.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

When this came out I played it constantly for a couple of weeks. I rated it good on this poll. Then I put Race Pro aside for the next couple of weeks while I played other games. So this weekend I got it out again and sat down to continue my career. This time though I just couldn't get back into it. There is something missing from this game. A fun factor is all I can think of. So I thought maybe I'll try some online racing, it should be more fun racing other people. I couldn't get a game though. I tried a few times and every time it locked my Xbox when supposedly loading a match. Not good.

I'll give this another go at some point but it's not looking like this will be a long term game for me. Unless I just wasn't in the right mood for it this weekend?

^what caveman says really. its not that RP isnt a good game, it is, BUT it has to many niggles, to many faults, its blatantly not finished but has been put on sale anyway, it could have been THE racing game to own for the 360 but sadly it isnt. Missed opportunity

Let's hope they don't get disheartened and have another go at a later date with a more solid engine.

Well I'm disheartened. I'm a long-time motorsports fan (although my interest has waned considerably in recent years) and can see Race Pro's potential (sadly I think there are too many issues to be patched effectively), but I wouldn't buy another of Simbin's games unless it was in a bargain bin.

Cheers,

Teddy

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

Sorry Folks but I just gave it a 4! It's the first game I have every traded in! I got it on launch day I was really looking forward to it! I had read a couple of reviews stating the graphics were not up to much but for me it's the physics that make a racing game... With that said the game just did not hook me in. I tried the different race modes and I raced online but I got absolutely no enjoyment from it! Without the decent driving experience the other flaws in the game became more apparent - the awful menu system - the same, repeated over and over again, hints and tips while loading the tracks (we know the hairpin is an overtaking opportunity!) the visual effect from the back of the car when you change gear that looks like it was rendered by a spectrum 48k! Ultimately, I would not have noticed these other flaws if they had got the driving right. Sadly i've hung up my wheel until the next big hope.

Re: Race Pro - Xbox 360 reviews

seem's to me that the thread is split between people who know how to drive a race car and people who dont.

i will say that this game is consistently inconsistant......ha
sometimes your being chased down all the way .....or you run away with it...i still play it, it still makes me tingle. totally agree with monkey.
