Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

Well, it's finally been released, and Street Fighter is back in its latest and possibly greatest form.
What do you think, is it the greatest Street Fighter game yet?, has it changed too much?, or is just more of the same, but with a 3d spin.
Whatever your views(as long as they are reasonable), please vote on this title, giving your reasons why you either love it, hate it, or are indifferent to this title.

*vote spoiling will be treated with infractions, so unless you have played this game, to an extent where you can give a fair and balanced view, please refrain from low or negative marks/views.

Thanks.

Re: Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

I have had this game now for around a week and a half its a highly polished BEAT EM UP, with developers now making useless amounts of shooters its always good to go back to your roots sometimes games that are propular back in the day suffer with expectations even though it has a huge fan base the street fighter franchise has been let down by so many other street fighter games in the past to milk the cash cow IMO

Only one minor problem is the pad although i was raving about it at the start its becoming tiring really need a stick or one of those saturn esque pads or its the ps3 version for me.

This game looks stunning and feels just as fresh like the old days its super FUN and a blast online, online is also polished the ommision of a tournamnet mode was a little let down but hey beggars cant be choosers
really is a sensational game i really cant believe they pulled it off but they did

Re: Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

Classic gameplay honed to perfection.

Its as fresh now as when I first plugged street fighter 2 into my SNES all those years ago!
I would recommend it to any true 'beat em up' fan, but I agree with Si that you really need a stick or fight pad to get the most out of it.

A must buy from me though!

Re: Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

It's beat em up perfection. Just the right mix of old & new, & unlike a lot of these games you don't need 15 fingers to play it at a decent level. Online code seems virtually flawless too. Lack of online options lets it down a bit, but tournament play is due as a free download soon apparently.

Only real cons i have are the lack of character specific backgrounds & themes. The theme music is in there on hard challenge mode & it sounds amazing, yet on arcade mode you get your standard bland beat em up music. I loved the fact that everyone had their own stages & instantly recognisable music in the previous games & i miss it here.

Seth & Abel are ridiculously cheap too.

Still, an easy 10/10 for me.

Re: Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

i only just got a 360 and the last console i had was dreamcast, however many friends had the snes and we would spend the whole day playing sf2 and thats if we were not at the arcade playing it.

i loved sf2 and the subsequent turbo and super editions, i never really got into the 3d fighting games.

when i heard sf4 was coming out on the ps3 and 360 i knew i had to buy one of them and thats the main reason for getting the 360, so on the 23 feb i woke up early went to tesco and bought this, went home and played it all day.

i reminds me of sf2 with the moves more tailored for use with the joypad, the graphics are better the gameplay is better, the control is better and all the main characters are there. i love the whole thing im yet to try live yet so i cant comment on that.

the only thing i miss were the tailored stages and music, and also the bonus stages where you beat up a car or a wall.

9/10 for me

This game is a perfect example of high production values and polish on every surface- tiny things like knocking over background items when you fall to the floor, the menus, the music, the way the focus attacks kinda take the best of the parry system in thrid strike and the awesome fluidity wether online or offline make this hands-down the most addctive beat'em up in years- 10/10

What he said - and then some. Just a stonking game with flawless online play. It looks the absolute business, playing it on a 90" PJ screen with the 5.1 cranked up is just stunning.

Outstanding. Truly a work of art. Captured everything that was beautiful from the originals and updated them perfectly for today. Spending big cash on the TE stick was a no brainer as this is a game I will always fancy going back to.
I will be writing a massively indulgent review for the game and stick in the not too distant

Oh I love it mate. Its like someone surgically removed the front off an arcade. The weight & resistance of it feels top draw so to me its worth every penny but at the same time massively self indulgent.

The only way to really play this game....

I'm not going to pay for than £150 for it... and if it means I have to wait, then I will wait.

Re: Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

I've voted 'Very Good' for this game. Have fond memories of entire saturdays spent infront of SFIII on the SNES round at a friend's house... and that's what made me pick this up: nostalgia.

However it would seem my tastes have changed and - although I can't fault the graphics, smooth gameplay or pure arcade feel - I just don't have the same enthusiasm.

Maybe it's because I paid full RRP and am used to getting much more than an arcade experience for my money. Maybe it's simply that I have experienced more games and their potential and enjoy other genres more.

Either way - a very good game but once I'd had my fill it was swiftly traded on the boards here.

Re: Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

not played it much yet, my thumb was pounding after only 30mins! I'm not sure how long the standard controller will last with this abuse!! I used to be fantastic at this game, guess that I've lost my touch with age (bearing in mind it was the SNES version I was great on!). Will post review proper when my thumb has recovered!

Re: Street Fighter IV Xbox 360 reviews

Great game, wouldn't quite call it outstanding (not close, imo).

I don't like the in-game graphics, to be honest. I disliked the style that SF took after SFII Turbo and this is just a polished up version of the banal Alpha look.

That said, the gameplay is still pretty good, Cammy is awesomeness and Fei Long kicksass well.

Other things of note - Chunners' has gone a bit Beyonce in the thighs  and that school kid from Alpha is in there (annoying Japanese fondness for "school uniforms" :|)...

Btw, this game has one of the most awesome intros I've ever seen. Fantastic music, brilliant artistic style, just immensely impressive!

I'm diggin through my 'old' games at the moment as I keep moving from one to the other without completing it. This is on my list to complete. I used to rock at Streetfighter but I've had a hard time getting back the fast thumb action! lol
