An excellent all round game on and offline. But is it that much better than 4? I'm not so sure.

If you've never played any of the previous games, especially 4, then I would think this would be the best game ever. But if you have, then its a bit same old same old I'm afraid.

Re: Call of Duty: World at War Xbox 360 reviews

i find this more fun than cod4 personly and the community that we have built up on this game is fantastic just see our threads.
the only niggle for me would be the dogs and the apaling lag that you sometimes get .
but i would still highly rate this game to any one for me i would gve it 9/10

Re: Call of Duty: World at War Xbox 360 reviews

Not as good as 4 but still outstanding. I would have been just as happy if not happier with a 12 map pack for COD4. I voted 10/10 outstanding. Even if its not quite as good as 4 its better than anything else thats been released since.

Re: Call of Duty: World at War Xbox 360 reviews

I am surprised by the lack of voting on this.
Anyway I gave it 9 out of 10.
Didn't play COD4 so this is all kind of new to me. (I know I am one of two people in the world who hasn't )
Was not sure of the perks etc as it seemed to favour experienced players.
Having played it now for over a month my fears on that were thankfully not met.

Good campaign which does not outstay its welcome, generally good lag free mulitplayer, nice graphics, and Nazi zombies finishes it off.
Only complaints, not many (if any) mulitplayer online acheivements which I can understand why due to people playing games simply to get a certain acheivement.
Good stuff

Re: Call of Duty: World at War Xbox 360 reviews

9/10 (based more on SP although I have put a good few hours into the MP too).

I liked the campaign quite a bit, especially considering the WWII FPS has been done to death. Not quite as good as COD4 although the final act is probably one of my favourite parts of any game for atmosphere and intensity (helped by a geat musical score). Probaly would have been 8 or maybe even a 7 but for that final scene. I really thought it was stunning.

Some nice attempts at adding a few different twists with the flamethrower and throwing mortar bombs is a lot of fun.

Veteran mode is controller smashingly frustrating as always but anyone who's been there in previous COD's should expect that.

it's easy to criticise if you compare it with COD4 but it still stands up as a pretty excellent game.

I hate MP achievements too but I'm not going to mark it down for that, it just doesn't seem important enough.

Re: Call of Duty: World at War Xbox 360 reviews

I too gave this 9/10 and mainly for the SP. I really enjoyed the campaign and the feel of vastness and intensity of something as large as WWII. I started and completed on Veteran and although there were some frustrating parts, on the whole it was thoroughly enjoyable and challenging; fortunately the checkpoints where fairly decently placed on the whole as well.

I also like the on-line coop mode which i personally felt was a great addition and if you have a good team of four i could imagine this would be a great way of playing it on Veteran as you can bring a certain level of tactics to it.

I am not nowhere near as keen on the on-line multiplayer side of things as i was on COD4 i just cant seem to get settled on a weapon choice, lag is an issue, actually getting into a game sometines is an issue, but i do like the tanks though.
