| Re: Lego Star Wars TCS: Reviews
I really enjoyed this sequel after getting into it. Having completed the original trilogy I knew it was going to be a bit of a slog fest but once you dive in at the deep end it is, as was the original, strangely addictive.
I thought that whilst the graphics have been tidied up I did find that, as others have, there was a lot of tearing which annoyed me at first but soon got used to it.
My main criticism though is that there is too much repetition in this edition. You have to play through each of the levels in story mode to unlock free play. Once unlocked you then go through each one in free play to collect the canisters and red bricks. You then play through again to get the blue canisters, then finally you have to do the super story. To my mind it would have made sense to ditch the super story as you only needed to collect 100,000 studs to pass the level so this could have been incorporated into the other missions, maybe the blue canisters instead.
I thought that most of the new bonus missions worked quite well and enjoyed the new lego city / town as a good break from the normal episodes.
Again in comparison to the original, I found the achievements generally a lot easier. All of the “kill character A with B” achievements were just a case of buying the appropriate people, going to a level, killing them, coming back out. There was no real effort to get these. However, the original trilogy’s complete the level undefeated were very difficult but not ridiculous. I suppose though that this comes down to how hard you like your achievements to be.
In all it took me 41 hours odd to complete this from start to finish so is that good value? I bought my copy for £20 when gamestation were doing their offer so worked out very good value for me. Plus the kids will now spend hours mucking about driving the fire engine round lego city and the like. Overall therefore I gave it a good.
