The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Xbox 360 Reviews

Seeng as this is one of the major games missing a review thread I figured it was worth creating one so we can see how AVF members rate this game in comparison with other potential favourites (See here for a list of other ratings threads -- Gears of War is currently the Forum's favourite game with 507 reviews and an average rating of 8.61!

A 10 should only be given for a landmark game that sets new rules, a 9 for a truly excellent game without flaw, and an average game that does things right but nothing special should get a 5 (not a 7 or 8 like some would have you believe).

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Reviews

I haven't played it enough really, but I can already see the differences between this and Morrowind. I gave it a 9 because I don't think that it is genre defining like Morrowing was.

It's testament to this games brilliance that I still play it frequently. I just love creating new & different characters/races and taking them down different paths. Outstanding.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Reviews

This game is absolutley beautiful! - I play it all the time when I show people my HD PJ, the game just looks stunning and the scenery is impressive - it amazes me how they even squeezed it all onto a DVD.

Anyone who has never played it should try it out - I was never into RPG at all, but I decided to try it out because all the major game review sites gave it a 9/10 - I didn't regret it one bit!

The game is soo big and there is soo much to explore by yourself!

a 10 from me. Without a doubt the most amazing game I have ever played. ok it has a few faults, but the sheer scale and quality takes it to a 10 for me. Outstanding title.

Contradicting what I put in another thread () I gave it a 10. No other game like it has come close to dominating my time like this did.

Truly outstanding.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Xbox 360 Reviews

9/10

I belive this was the benchmark for the RPG game and others followed on like Fable 2 and Fallout 3.

Apart from my mistake of deleating my level 34 character with 110Hrs Played but i think it missed that one little tiny thing that everyone loves.

Some form of multiplayer

Even if it was something as small as what fable 2 did while not co-oping with someone, the floating orbs it gives a sense that you can see other people playing and what they are up to.

apart from that.

Truly a EPIC RPG title, i hope Elder Scrolls 5 is on its way

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Xbox 360 Reviews

Whenever I play this I feel like i've melted into my TV, the characters the soundtrack, the enviroments are spot on.

I don't think there's a better value game available. I've put 156 hrs into it and i'm only just half way thru the shivering isles, havn't done the theives guild quests yet or the knights of the nine expansion and there are still places I havn't explored. If you decided not to use the fast travel option to get across the map you could be playing it for the years on end.

Voted 9.

This maybe sad, but i've sunk just over 1000 hours into this, since it came out a few years ago. This is the best game I have EVER played in my life (i'm 31). I've gone through every character and have memorised every single mission since I've played it so many times. Now that IS sad I admit, but, cor blimey this is a game and a half.
I was utterly overwhelmed when I started it, but once you get the hang of it and the magic its an epic title.

A must for RPG fans

I played this game for about 2/3 hours and got dispondent with it a couple of years ago.

I wish I hadn't traded it in, as these days, it would be exactly the kind of game I want to get stuck into. The only thing I remember though, is I felt like I was missing something with the combat, and swinging my sword and never hitting a thing... almost like there was a target lock on button someone had failed to inform me about!

A good tactic is to wait for them to attack and hold the block button, then when they stumble backwards, attack them, then repeat.

Some kind soul just gave a copy away in the classified forum.

Used copies go for around a tenner these days. WELL worth persevering with in my opinion.

It's definitely a game I want to try again.

In the last few months I've really got into gaming far more than before. (Partly because of this forum) And Oblivion is a classic that I really want to put on my list of completed games, but then so is Fallout 3 which I need to start fresh, as i've forgotten everything about it, plus then there's a prestige to aim for on MW2, plus Bayonetta and Darksiders on the way for January, and Mass Effect 2 looks awesome, but that would mean I need to buy ME1 and complete that first....

Anyone want to go to work for me so I can game all day!?!

Utterly astounding. Was the first game i played on the system, so it was some entry into the current gen. Completely blew my mind at the time.

Without a doubt the best parts were the assassins and thief guild, and the exploring took up many hours too. The only flaws i would say were the occasional glitches, some repetitive voice acting. Easily forgivable though, considering the rest of the world is so believable and absorbing.

Started playing this game last week after buying the GOY edition for £7!!

I voted an 8. Perhaps I was a tad harsh with an 8 - maybe a 9 would have been better.

Considering the game is over 2 years old, this game is astounding. It beats recent games into a pulp. The graphics are amazing, with stunning scenery and excellent face animations.

The world is very believable and totally absorbing. You can just wander around for hrs on end and not get bored with it. Love the dungeon crawling and hunting for loot.

I'm only 20 hrs in and my current quests log is as long as my arm. Only completed the first 2 quests of the main mission.

Anyway, cracking game 8/9 out of 10 from moi.

Best game I've played on the 360 imo, offline that is. Spent countless hours on it just because it was so indepth. I still don't think anything has beaten it in the genre like Mass Effect yet.

Amazing game, I on 170+ hours and still have side quests to complete. Thinking of going back to Tamreil and finishing the add on pack 'The Shivering Isles'
